A competition not ‘amongst’ but ‘for’ the best entrepreneurs, where the participants (who need not be entrepreneurs) would present the story of the most interesting entrepreneur they have come across (they can also write about themselves in case they are one). The contest would not be about the big business empires they searched for on Google but the entrepreneur they found on the streets, or in their local markets. The best story would be selected by an able jury and rewarded with a cash prize. The top 20 stories would be put together in the form of a publication. This would be followed by a series of documentary films being made on each entrepreneur to be screened in the film festival in the consecutive year (2009). With this effort, not only would entrepreneurship become a part of the common man’s terminology and conversations, but a lot many youngsters though wanting to but skeptical of starting something of their own would gather a great level of confidence and courage to chase their dreams and create their desired careers themselves. The contest would aim to achieve the following objectives: - Due recognition to the many entrepreneurs for their innovation, courage and contribution to the economy and society in general.
- Many aspiring entrepreneurs, financial institutions and the small and big industries can find important linkages to promote their respective careers and enterprises.
- More and better career opportunities in entrepreneurship for the youth where their dreams are not restricted by societal and parental pressure regarding their career choices.
- A library of resources on entrepreneurship, with a collection of fresh stories and documentary films about the city’s entrepreneurs, their risks and innovations.
It’s impossible to negate the contribution of entrepreneurs in strengthening the economy of their countries. It would be the awareness about entrepreneurship which will lead to the knowledge that is required to compete with the international giant enterprises. With the success of these events, Dhriiti foresees a brighter future for India and the Indian youth to compete with the leading global enterprises thereby taking India a level higher than its current standing in the international market. |
